Brinda Vaidya, MA (She/Her)

Brinda Vaidya, MA is a clinical psychology doctoral student. She obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School and is working on completing her doctorate. Brinda's clinical interests include providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults to foster personal meaning-making and promote identity development. She has experience working with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and interpersonal issues. Brinda draws from a variety of orientations, having primarily worked from a psychodynamic and humanistic-existential lens. In her free time, Brinda is a creative at heart-- she thoroughly enjoys music, creative writing, and painting, as well as coffee, yoga, and long walks on the lakefront.

Training FAQs *

  • Trainees have ample access to the most recent and innovative education, literature, and research. They come in active and passionate. They have significantly more support through supervision, practicum seminars, and cohort consultation, than someone who isn’t under supervision. This support is through a wide range of licensed and pre-licensed individuals.

  • Short answer, yes, but it depends on how you define short term. “Time-limited” is more accurate. Trainees are available for two semesters (8-10 months). During the months in between, there is opportunity to receive bridge therapy from Sunny Swift, PsyD.

  • Yes! It is important to consider that other perspectives from new clinicians in the rotations. Diversity of thought, skills, and backgrounds can offer perspectives that some clinicians may not offer, while others will.

  • Sessions are audio recorded through Zoom. There is no video recording. Should this be a barrier for you, let’s discuss options.

  • Yes, always and forever. We offer the first 30 days at no cost to see if this is a good fit for you. If you have a zero dollar copay and no deductible or fully paid deductible on your insurance, we ask that you consider us billing to your insurance as soon as you start. We are able to check this for you before starting treatment.

  • Yes, they have completed assessment (basic) and therapy (intermediate) practicums. These are both 1 year long, ~20 hour a week, supervised externships. This training opportunity is supplemental and they are gathering experience in other settings as well.

  • Trainees receive 1 hour of clinical supervision per week. We review audio recordings, discuss diagnosis and treatment planning. Trainees receive required and optional trainings on content related to the care they provide. The supervisor, Sunny Swift, PsyD, is highly experienced in a variety of presenting concerns and identities with a practice focus on LGBQIA and Transgender identities.

  • We are currently at capacity for training opportunities for the 2026-2027 training year. However, please reach out for preliminary interest in future training opportunities. I work with PsyD students from The Chicago School - Chicago Campus, with opportunity for more PsyD programs in the future. Trainees are paid a relatively competitive stipend, $1000 per semester, approximately 5 sessions per week for two semesters.
